Jag Sekhon

Jag Sekhon is the Regional Director for Garner International Executive Search and specializes in the global energy market.

During her 14 year career in energy, she excelled in Business Development where she initiated and managed strategic corporate alliances, primarily in the transmission and distribution of electricity, generation of wind power and mobile telecommunication systems.

Jag has lived and worked in Europe and Turkey for 20 years and returned home to Singapore in 2004. As the Head of Business Development at MITAS Energy, a member of the Emta Group of Companies, Jag has been an integral member of the team that successfully steered her company's brand leadership and geographical expansion in over 100 countries spanning all continents.

She also has extensive experience in international project management including large turnkey energy projects in various countries. Jag takes special pride in the turnkey projects she has undertaken in collaboration with the US Army (US Corp of Engineers) and US prime contractors in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the electricity sector in Iraq since 2003.

Jag successfully spearheaded the gradual expansion of her company's markets since 1994, steering away from over dependence on the domestic market. This included "globally preferred supplier" alliances with reputable European market operators and prime contractors principally in Germany, France, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

Prior to her career at MITAS Energy, Jag co-ordinated the advertising and marketing communications of a leading semiconductor firm in Europe. Her achievements include the implementation of an electronic single point of trading (SPOT) system, a secure trading environment for selected defence industry customers. Jag was also responsible for liaising with the German parent company, aiming towards social and market integration upon acquisition.

Jag graduated from Warwick Business School, Warwick University in the UK with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Accounting and Finance. Jag also holds an MBA from Nottingham Business School, Nottingham University, UK.

Jag is an active partner in the MindExchange and SoundingBoard, two regional networks geared towards the exchange of ideas and corporate development of senior executives.
