Phil Cunningham

Phil Cunningham is the Managing Director of Garner International and for 6 years prior to this appointment he was Executive Director and Partner in one of Asia’s most successful Executive Search practices.

He has been living and working throughout the Asia Pacific region since 1977 and came to Singapore from Hong Kong in 1982 and held senior appointments with British-American Tobacco Company. With an impressive record of dealing with every country in Asia from Pakistan to Japan, he has successfully formed joint ventures and business partnerships within the region’s emerging markets during which time he completed a 6 year service as Deputy Managing Director of Singapura United Tobacco Ltd.

As a region-wide FMCG distribution and marketing organisation, Phil played an integral role in the company achieving 3rd place recognition within Singapore’s top 50 companies.

Phil is married and he and Christine have 2 sons, one of whom is based in Central Asia and the other is in the USA, both receiving much of their education in Asia. He is a Governor of the Tanglin Trust School, and Provost of T.E.D. Huaxia Institute.

Phil is known as the “voice of the 7’s” he being the announcer for the annual Singapore International Rugby 7’s for longer than he cares to remember.
