The Client

Our client is a leading manufacturer of coated and non-woven abrasives with its HQ based in Jeppo, Finland.

The Company is one of the global market leaders in its largest business segment, Surface Finishing, - which includes automotive refinishing (ART), original equipment manufacturers (OEM) including subcontractors, composites and the marine industry – thanks to its global niche strategy and its partly unique product range.

Its products are exported to more than 80 countries all over the world, partly through their own marketing companies, partly through agents. Exports and foreign operations accounted for altogether 95% of the operations.

 

   
The Position

Located in Singapore, the purpose of this position is to ensure the sales office activities are accomplished according to the approved operational procedures from headquarter, so as to meet annual objectives, utilizing effectively & efficiently all available resources and following the company’s mission and values; thus providing high quality services.

   
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective implementation of sales strategy; company policies & procedures from headquarter, in order to guarantee the sound operation of the sales office and the achievement of sales objectives.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the political, economic and cultural particularities affecting the countries of accountability and keep up to date with competitors’ activity, so as to support business development.
  • Ensure that new opportunities are fully investigated and proper propositions for sales development in the region of operations are made, in order to expand current business relationships and develop new clientele.
  • Ensure proper selection, training, motivation as well as guidance & coaching to own team, in order to meet agreed sales targets.
  • Create an environment that promotes the values the company represent & allow human resources to perform & develop their skills and competencies.
  • Develop a team spirit culture, affecting the day to day business, in order to keep up a high pace and ensure high productivity.
  • Major focus will be on developing market opportunities in Southeast Asia, Australian and New Zealand through research.
   
The Requirements
  • At least 5 years experience base in a commercial area.
  • Engineering or business degree and ideally an MBA.
  • Experience in the general B2B market is mandatory and specific experience or related knowledge in the automotive refinishing trade industry is very welcomed or paint or tool industries.
  • Has a good understanding of marketing and communicating to the end user.
  • Able to handle and market innovative products and understand value-based marketing.
  • Strong personal and communication skills, able to interact at all levels within an organization.
  • Has an entrepreneurial mind; highly independent yet a good team player with a positive attitude.
  • Fluent in English.  Conversant with other Asian languages is an advantage.
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic and diligent.
  • Experience with managing regional, multifunctional teams both at an operational level.
