Position: Marketing Director, Thailand

Our Client

Our client is the UK's largest privately managed schools group with over 53 schools. The group is expanding internationally and Thailand is already a key market. The group currently owns a group of 3 Schools in Thailand and 2 large schools in Singapore. In addition the Group has acquired schools in Spain and is expanding into Latin America. The Group will acquire at least another 3 to 5 schools or groups of schools in Thailand over the next 2 to 3 years. These will be a combination of international curriculum, bi-lingual and concerted schools.
Background

The current Thailand team consists of a Managing Director & Thai Finance Director. The group also employs over 160 local and expatriate staff including educationalists.

In order to ensure that the Schools gain & maintain marketing traction, increased awareness, recognition & enhanced reputation as well as setting the marketing leadership & direction for its future growth in Thailand, a new position of Marketing Director, Thailand has been created. This role is crucially important to the achievement of its growth objectives in Thailand and will require someone with marketing experience ideally from involvement in & with the education sector, FMCG companies and B2B to help shape the face of its schools in Thailand.
Job Purpose  
  • As a key member of the Thailand’s Asia Executive Team, actively contribute to the strategic direction and overall performance of the business.
  • To provide marketing leadership to the Thailand strategic growth agenda; including business development and creation of strategic marketing plan for Thailand.
  • Develop, create, and manage the Thailand marketing strategy.
  • To act as an interface between the schools Admissions & Marketing officer and Asia, ensuring compliance with group requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities  
  • Develop the strategic marketing plan for Thailand to support existing schools and acquisitive growth.
  • To develop and manage local relationships in support of Thailand business development efforts including; relocation agents, PR firms, advertising agencies, Corporate HR departments, Thai government agencies.
  • Develop an annual budget to support strategic marketing plan and manage to plan.
  • Develop and manage world class websites for each individual schools and electronic marketing campaign to support strategic marketing plan.
  • Develop high quality marketing collateral such as brochures, newsletters, and folders in both English and Thai in support of the strategic marketing plan.
  • To provide high quality reports and analysis to the Thailand Executive Team and the relevant Asia Group Executives and to establish excellent relationships with colleagues.
  • To keep abreast of competition and developments across the education sector and Thailand in general.
  • Work directly with each Head of School to develop individual marketing plans and budgets to support.
Key Requirements  
  • Graduate (Masters in Marketing/Communication or MBA highly preferred).
  • English & Thai language fluency both written and spoken.
  • Previous experience in a senior marketing role in the education sector in Thailand is preferred but not essential. Other experience can include other high customer service consumer businesses such as FMCG.
  • Prepared to travel around Thailand, occasionally to Singapore.
  • At least 5 to 10 years experience in a marketing role in Thailand.
The Ideal Candidate  

The Ideal Candidate will bring the weight of professional expertise in marketing & communications to support the Group of Schools through its continuing growth in Thailand.

S/he will have a successful track record in a complex environment and ideally a good understanding of international education & foreign, non-Thai, schools.

The search demands evidence of a strategic outlook with the ability to communicate, build rapport and maintain strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Government at senior levels.

S/he will be a robust & credible individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to thrive in an environment of rapid growth.

A confident communicator s/he will be able to influence at all levels with the ability to build & sustain high level cross functional relationships and consensus building skills.

The Ideal Candidate will be a key player and make an influential contribution to the overall development and strategic planning through experience of having worked in a full-mix marketing role and will be excited by the prospect of working for a newly formed, high profile, dynamic, growth business.
