Position: Head of Professional Services, Asia Pacific
Location: Hong Kong
Background: Our client provides a unique & comprehensive range of investment management solutions and selected services providing the systems & support for local requirements ranging from specialist single site installations to the largest international institutions. A leading supplier of Middle Office and Analytics, Asset Servicing & Distribution solutions to the global asset management industry, its clients range from sovereign wealth funds to boutique firms including global insurers, third party administrators & alternative investment managers. Its parent company was founded in the USA more than 30 years ago and is quoted on the NYSE.
The Position: The role is Head of Professional Services Asia Pacific. Professional Services is the implementation arm of Investment Management Solutions (IMS) and provides pre- and post-sales consulting and the implementation of solutions to client business needs based on IMS products. The role is a general business management role managing the services line of business within the profit business and the key performance indicators are revenue, margin, client satisfaction, stakeholder satisfaction and employee morale. The role will report to the UK based Global Head of Professional Services and work closely with the Hong Kong based Regional Managing Director. The position will be based in either Shanghai or Hong Kong and manages a team of 20–30 geographically dispersed project managers and consultants. Greater China is a key and growing market and fluency in Mandarin would be a significant advantage.
Requirements:
P&L Responsibility Previous experience managing a services P&L (c. $10M) in a product company and evidence of driving revenue generation and cost control Professional Services (Line and Business) Management Previous experience of managing a client funded services business, preferably including software implementation within Financial Services. Evidence of team and people development. Previous Project Management or Consulting Experience Experience of either senior project management or lead consulting roles and good awareness of the challenges of both. Industry and Market knowledge Knowledge of/experience in Financial Services, ideally Investment Management Operations. Asia Pacific Regional Awareness Previous experience of management within Asia. Client Relationship Management Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships at a senior level within a client organisation and having used these relationships to address implementation or business issues. Cultural and Organisation Change / Restructuring Experience Demonstrable evidence of changing the makeup of a, preferably services, business to address changes in the market environment. Awareness of Organisation Models / Transition Knowledge and experience of, and an ability to operate within, an organisation transitioning from a hierarchical model to a matrix management model. Examples of the challenges and evidence of addressing them successfully. Evidence of good Interpersonal skills / persuasiveness, ability to control and direct teams without having direct authority.
